Teaching Philosophy
I believe that higher education should provide a safe environment that fosters critical thinking and problem solving for all students. In order to become successful professionals, students must understand and analyze information presented in books and lectures as well as articulate questions based on their learnings. I expect students to take an active role in their learning by possessing a sense of curiosity to further explore the subject matter. Students must also value diversity of thought to further expand their knowledge and perspectives. To accomplish this, I bring real business cases and real world examples to the classroom setting. I strive to leverage interactive teaching aids and experiential learning opportunities that are fun, enlightening, and thought provoking to challenge students to be their absolute best.
I am a lifelong learner and believe that we must always be open to evolve our thinking to learn new things and gain new perspectives. Teaching is a two-way street where I inspire and educate students and they do the same for me.
In addition, students will be administered quizzes, tests, essays and research assignments to properly assess their knowledge of the subject matter and ability to articulate their understanding and analysis of the material.
In turn, to ensure that I am meeting the needs of the students I provide multiple ways for students to provide feedback on my performance and how I can improve their learning experience by hosting weekly office hours and administering anonymous performance surveys at the end of the semester.
